TIN Night in Brandon

On November 26, a sizeable audience of 35 people came out to a Technology Information Night (TIN) held in Brandon in the Faculty of Education Building at Brandon University. After enjoying pizza and salad, Past President, Mike Nantais, gave a quick overview of ManACE’s new web site and highlighted the Seed grants. , The group then enjoyed three exciting presentations. Starting off, Julie Brunel, a science teacher at Virden Collegiate, showed how her students use several iPad apps to show their learning. Julie was the winner of a ManACE Seed grant last year, which helped her purchase iPads to use in her science program. She was ably assisted by two of her students. Next, Donna-Jean Lamb, a grade 4 teacher at Boissevain School showed how she used Kidblogs with her students. Turtle Mountain Educational Technology Leader – and long time ManACE board member – Shawn Kleebaum, assisted DJ. DJ shared her blogging process and gave several tips. Finally, Shawn gave a brief overview of Google Classroom. The evening ended with a draw for two sleek and useful ManACE flashlights.
