ManACE Seed Grants
Aim:
To support innovative Manitoba school-based projects that promote ICT literacy, ManACE is proud to announce our seed grant program for 2011-2012. ManACE supports the efforts of K-12 educators by presenting the opportunity for you to initiate an educational project supported by technology or to strengthen an existing initiative by providing funding. Funding can be used toward the purchase of hardware, software, and/or professional development.
(See below for the application forms.)
Overview:
To apply for this grant submit a digital presentation (it could be in any form such as: a photostory, a website, a blog, a wiki, a booklet, a digital audio recording, etc.) along with the written or online grant application.
ManACE will fund up to two grants of $1,200.00 each to each of three levels: K-4, 5-8, and 9-12 if there are sufficient acceptable entries. These grants will fund innovative projects created by Manitoba classes who present the best ideas as determined by our judging panel. Please review the judging criteria carefully and consider it when making your application.
There are two intake periods you can apply for: February 29, 2012 and April 3, 2012. Your class can apply for either intake period or for both. Up to three $1,200.00 grants will be funded at each intake period for each level, for a total of $7,200. Decisions will follow within approximately three weeks of intake dates.
How can you get started?
- Discuss and brainstorm some ideas with your students.
- Refer to the Manitoba Literacy with ICT continuum documents at: http://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/tech/lict/
- Come up with a compelling argument about why your project should be chosen and funded (please see evaluation criteria), and include your students by creating a digital presentation in a format of your choice to pitch your idea.
- Complete the application form. Please ensure that you postmark your application by the intake deadlines.
* ManACE reserves the right to showcase submitted projects that receive funding. Should your project be chosen, a condition of funding includes obtaining publication waivers for any students who appear in the digital presentation created for the application. A sample publication waiver is provided below, but your school division may have a standard form.
What type of projects would be eligible?
Any project where you are proposing spending money that will benefit your school community. We are looking to fund projects that are both innovative and unique, as well as ones that will make a difference in your school community. Projects that will result in long-term benefits are encouraged.
