The purpose of this TIN presentation was to discuss the many ways that the Internet has evolved and is evolving due to the continued ease of publishing original video content to the web. The Internet has always been an excellent resource for educators, but ever since the emergence of blogs, wikis and social networking sites, more and more educators are turning to the Internet as a tool for communicating and collaborating with other educators.
The use of online video is contributing to a revolution of the Internet as we know it. Teachers and students are finding global audiences for their work, and they are building social networks so that they can give and get feedback based on their thoughts and ideas. In addition, websites like Youtube and Teachertube enable anyone with an e-mail address the ability to upload and share content that can easily be embedded into other websites and blogs. This trend is also being built into many popular Web 2.0 applications, like VoiceThread, Slideshare and Blabberize.
There are many ways that a variety of video formats can be used to support the teaching and learning that takes place in your classroom. The use of podcasting as a tool for learning is increasing exponentially. By ÔcatchÕing some of the podcasts below that were shared during this presentation, you may discover some novel ways of utilizing online video in your classroom.
